Simple Polypropylene Lampshade Diffusers sit in the base of the frame - these are a budget option. They diffuse the light and disguise the bulb but do not hide it completely, you still get a hot spot as it has no optic effect. They are wipe clean and not breakable. all considerations when working with lighting in public places.

Large Tartan drum shade with coordinating baffle diffuser. This is a 900mm diameter shade with a 700mm baffle diffuser. We designed this fitting with 3 way lamp holder, so it has 3 bulbs, such a big fitting really does need more light output than just a single bulb. The fabric covered baffle is done in a coordinating pink as a design feature ( the tartan would have looked odd on a round base anyway). The gap halo allows you to see the silvered coloured internal lamination. Our bespoke configuration allows lights to be built like this - definitely not something you would find onto high street.

This is a Fabric Covered Baffle diffuser ( this shade is pictured upside down resting on a table, so you will have to imagine it the other way round hanging as a pendant) - This baffle diffuser is in matching fabric to the shade. it hides the bulb from view directly underneath and casts a halo of light around. It prevents that blinding you get from looking directly at a bulb, but it does block out some of the light so doesn’t give you maximum lighting. However, it does allow you to see the brushed silver lining. The decorative effect of the fabric in this case matching the shade (but could also be done in coordinating colours), is an interior designers trick of the trade which gives a cohesive finish to an interior scheme, bringing all the elements of lighting, fabrics, soft furnishings together.

This Floating Acrylic Halo diffuser is only suited to larger lamps that have multiple light sources, in the case of the lamps pictured it has 3 bulbs. It adds quite a bit of weight to the fitting so has to be on weight bearing cable. Very much a bespoke option this one. The Opal acrylic does diffuser the light sources well though. We do have an opal acrylic diffuser option for smaller lamps, but it sits inside the ring.

Extra Large lampshade with cotton fabric diffuser. When we are making oversized lamp shades we do have some limitations on the type of materials we can use for diffusers. Cotton lamination as in this case on a 1 metre drum shade gives us the size we need combined with a relatively light weight and doesn’t sag in the middle. You can still see the 3 light sources behind, but they are diffused and not blinding or visually uncomfortable for those in the room.

Lampshade with Fixed base halo diffusers are commonplace in commercial applications - gives added rigidity and structure - hides the bulb and allows light cast around edges. Also allows you to see any decorative internal lamination.
